The era of the agentic enterprise is here, in production and already reshaping how we build and deploy software. If you’re an ISV building on Google Cloud, this keynote was a blueprint for how you’ll architect your next generation of applications.

Google emphasized a unified, end-to-end stack from custom silicon to models to data grounding to security, rather than cobbling together fragmented components. Google positions itself as “customer zero” in this effort, running this exact open stack across massive platforms like Search and YouTube. Let’s break down the most critical announcements and what they mean for builders and co-sellers in the Google Cloud ecosystem:

The Shift to Agentic AI and Real-World Scale

The statistics shared early in the keynote set the stage. Seventy-five percent of new code at Google is now AI-generated and engineer-approved. That’s a staggering figure highlighting a fundamental shift in engineering operations. Furthermore, we aren’t just using AI as a simple autocomplete tool anymore. Instead, entire codebases are being migrated using specialized digital task forces of planners, orchestrators, and coders working in concert, completing migrations six times faster than traditional methods.

This transformation extends far beyond the engineering org. Similarly, in marketing, teams are adapting campaigns and generating mass-scale personalization 70% faster, seeing a 20% bump in engagement. Meanwhile, in the Security Operations Center (SOC), agents triage tens of thousands of unstructured threat reports monthly, reducing mitigation time by over 90%. Triage agents now cut 30-minute investigations down to 60-second resolutions.

Major enterprises are already moving fast:

  • Signal Iduna hit 80% adoption in weeks with 11,000 employees building agents.
  • KPMG deployed over 100 agents in their first month.
  • Walmart is equipping store leaders with enterprise-connected tools to get answers in seconds.
  • Virgin Voyages introduced its “Project Ruby” concierge for crew and sailors, utilizing Google Distributed Cloud Edge for offline resiliency and claiming a 60% faster production timeline.

For ISVs, this means the expectation from your enterprise customers is about to shift significantly. They don’t just want AI features bolted onto your product. They want autonomous capabilities that solve complex, multi-step problems out of the box.

Gemini Enterprise Agent Platform: Mission Control

Naturally, with everyone suddenly capable of becoming a builder, complexity inevitably skyrockets. How do you manage thousands of specialized agents operating across an enterprise? Google’s answer is the Gemini Enterprise Agent Platform, which was referred to as “Mission Control” for the agentic enterprise. Specifically, the platform expands Vertex AI with full lifecycle agent capabilities, aiming for true mission-critical rigor. It’s built around four core pillars: Build, Scale, Govern, and Optimize.

  • Build – Google introduced the Low-Code Agent Studio, a natural language environment for employees to build and deploy agents grounded in strict business rules. In addition, the Agent Registry serves as a centralized index and control plane to ensure discoverability across the organization. The Skills Registry exposes modular, reusable instruction packages for every Google Cloud offering and Workspace. Moreover, an expansive Agent Marketplace brings in partners like Atlassian, Box, Oracle, ServiceNow, and Workday. Full native MCP support connects the platform to any MCP server, exposing Google Cloud services natively as MCP tools.
  • Scale – Agent-to-Agent Orchestration allows agents to delegate tasks, supporting both complex generative workflows and strictly deterministic paths. If you’re building compliance or highly regulated software, that deterministic capability is critical. Additionally, the system supports robust event-driven execution, handling real-time, scheduled, trigger-based, and batch workloads.
  • Govern – This pillar brings the visibility and isolation enterprise customers demand. Grounded in Zero Trust principles, every agent receives a unique, traceable cryptographic ID. Specifically, the Agent Gateway serves as a single command center for policy enforcement, backed by inline protections like Model Armor to prevent sensitive data leakage. For ISVs, this platform provides the foundational layer you need to deploy complex workflows without building the underlying management infrastructure from scratch. Furthermore, new Gemini Enterprise Projects give agents a permanent memory workspace, enabling deep thinking without context pollution.
  • Optimize – Lastly, Agent Observability introduces OTel-compliant telemetry. As a result, developers can visualize execution paths, monitor tools, retrieve traces, and diagnose reasoning loops to understand exactly why an agent made a specific decision.

Models at the Core

Of course, orchestration requires powerful, specialized models. Specifically, Google previewed several key updates to the Gemini family tailored for different workloads.

  1. Gemini 3.1 Pro brings advanced reasoning, specifically optimized for workflow orchestration with minimal tuning needed for API and system interaction.
  2. Gemini 3.1 Flash Image, affectionately codenamed “Nano Banana 2,” was introduced for generating high-fidelity visuals.
  3. Veo 3.1 Lite targets cost-effective, high-volume video generation.
  4. Lyria 3 Pro provides enterprise-grade audio and music generation.

Moreover, Google continues its commitment to an open ecosystem by supporting leading third-party models, including the addition of Anthropic’s Claude Opus 4.7. Ultimately, you have the freedom to choose the right model for your specific workload while keeping the governance layer intact.

Infrastructure: The AI Hypercomputer

Fundamentally, underpinning all of this is the AI Hypercomputer. As Amin Vahdat emphasized, compute is the entire datacenter, not just the chip. I really appreciated the recasting of “AI Hypercomputer” as the broader datacenter and not, as was previously the case, the name of a specific, end-to-end model training offering. The AI Hypercomputer positions Google Cloud as the world’s first AI Hyperscaler by providing the first unified engine incorporating clean energy, scale, and purpose-built infrastructure.

Google unveiled its 8th Generation TPUs, officially splitting the line into two distinct platforms. The TPU 8o focuses on training frontier models. It delivers roughly three times the compute per pod compared to the prior generation. For example, a single pod can scale up to 9,600 TPUs, delivering 121 exaflops of FP4 performance with 2 PB of shared memory.

The TPU 8i is optimized for inference and reinforcement learning. Consequently, for ISVs serving high-volume, low-latency AI features, the 8i’s focus is a game changer. Specifically, it offers a 5x latency reduction through collectives acceleration and an on-silicon cache for long context decoding, delivering 9.8x the performance of a 256-chip Ironwood pod.

Furthermore, we also saw the introduction of Google Cloud Axion, a custom-designed ARM CPU instance. Axion delivers up to 2x the price-performance and 80% better performance-per-watt compared to similar x86 instances. In addition, adding to the hardware lineup, Google announced early availability of the NVIDIA Vera Rubin NVL72, claiming 10x performance efficiency for interactive and long-context workloads.

Meanwhile, on the storage and networking side, Managed Lustre now pushes throughput up to 10 TB per second. Specifically, the new Virgo network doubles connectivity, linking 134,000 chips with up to 47 Pb/s of bandwidth, preparing the ground for systems capable of 1.7 million exaflops.

The Agentic Data Cloud

However, models are only valuable when they are operationalized to solve actual business problems. As Karthik Narain noted, reasoning without context is just a guess. Therefore, the new Agentic Data Cloud introduces an architecture built for the speed and scale of autonomous AI.

The Knowledge Catalog acts as a universal enterprise context engine. Specifically, it integrates tightly with BigQuery and a new smart storage layer that automatically tags and enriches unstructured files the moment they land in Cloud Storage. Consequently, Gemini autonomously extracts entities and learns your unique business semantics. Google is leaning heavily into “zero-copy” access partnerships with players like Palantir, Salesforce, SAP, ServiceNow, and Workday. Undoubtedly, this is a massive advantage for ISVs and their clients as it means you can reason over customer data where it lives, reducing friction and accelerating time-to-value for integrations.

Additionally, the Data Agent Kit brings Gemini-powered authoring directly into existing tools like IDEs, notebooks, and the terminal. For instance, you can state an intent, such as predicting customer churn, and the kit automatically builds pipelines and deploys models. Meanwhile, for heavy analytical workloads, the new Lightning engine for Apache Spark delivers twice the price-performance of the “previous market leader” (a thinly veiled reference to Databricks?).

Ultimately, all of this feeds into a Cross-Cloud Lakehouse built on Apache Iceberg, which allows analytical engines to reason over data sitting in Google, AWS, Azure, and various SaaS platforms without moving the data. Furthermore, it avoids costly egress fees and eliminates vendor lock-in. In a truly awesome demo, Yasmeen Ahmad used these tools to turn a trend into a key business decision in five minutes. The system found a hidden soy allergen link across separate PDFs, generated a schema from dark data, queried loyalty data in AWS S3 without a data migration, and built a forecast notebook that output a $15 million business opportunity.

Agentic Defense and the Gemini-Native SOC

Importantly, security wasn’t an afterthought. As Francis D’Souza framed it, threats move far too fast for human response. Specifically, the mean time to exploit is now “minus 7 days,” and attacker handoffs are reduced to seconds, so machine-speed security is absolutely required.

Google Cloud and Wiz are tackling this head-on with a Gemini-native SOC. This agentic defense strategy utilizes an AI Application Protection Platform featuring specialized autonomous agents. The keynote officially welcomed the Wiz team to Google Cloud, aiming for a unified agentic defense across on-premise setups and major clouds. In addition, Wiz agents bring autonomous protection to life via dedicated roles.

A Red Agent acts as a friendly hacker; constantly validates exposures, proactively finding real vulnerabilities like authentication bypasses. A Green Agent automates triage and suggests fixes down to the line of code, and can automatically create pull requests or route issues directly to coding agents for automated fixes.

Fundamentally, this system relies on agentless inventory, a massive security graph, and continuous correlation of risks across clouds, data, models, and agents. Google Cloud has truly closed the loop between the builder and the defender.

Building on an inherently secure, agent-defended platform is gonna make the procurement conversation significantly easier for ISVs selling into security-conscious enterprises!

Customer Experience and Workspace Intelligence

Meanwhile, the shift to autonomous systems is radically changing the customer experience. For instance, Google showcased pre-built shopping and food ordering agents that handle the entire flow from discovery to checkout via natural language. A standout example is the YouTube TV support voice agent. Built and deployed in just six weeks, it’s currently live in production for 100% of users handling NFL Sunday Ticket subscriptions. The demo showed a seamless multilingual pivot between English and Spanish, accurately navigating complex product logic.

Additionally, we also saw Workspace Intelligence introduced. Basically, this embedded intelligence layer reduces context fragmentation and eliminates the “context tax” across all Workspace apps. For example, it allows users to ask Gemini to surface relevant assets and flag deadlines without opening dozens of tabs. In a live example, it generated a branded Slides deck pulling sources from emails, chats, and HubSpot win-loss data, complete with full citations. Finally, for customers still transitioning, new migration and interoperability enhancements make moving from Microsoft 365 to Google Workspace up to five times faster.

The Takeaway for ISVs

In summary, the Google Cloud Next ’26 opening keynote wasn’t just about faster chips or slightly better models. It was a comprehensive realignment of the entire cloud stack around agentic work. From the infrastructure layer up through the Data Cloud and into the Gemini Enterprise Agent Platform, Google provides the tools necessary to build, deploy, manage, and secure autonomous systems at massive scale.

Competitors often boast about their expansive ecosystems, but the tight vertical integration Google demonstrated today is going to be hard to match frankly. The hardware, models, data architecture, and security layers are co-developed and optimized for each other from the ground up.

For ISVs, I think the mandate is clear: move beyond basic generative features and start building true agentic applications. The next generation of enterprise software will be autonomous… and built on Google Cloud.
